How to Achieve at Coastal Design Theme in Your Home

Whether you’re hours away from a coastline or spending your days in a beachfront cottage, it’s easy to bring a coastal decor style into your home so you can enjoy that vacation vibe year-round. You don’t have to be on the beach to incorporate the coastal feel into your home. • Reflective surfaces: When light and windows are limited, utilizing reflective surfaces such as a back-painted glass backsplash, can help bounce light around the room and give the impression of additional natural light.
• Glass doors: If the option is available, replace any solid doors that lead outside with glass doors or doors that have glass inset in them.

Pops of color:  Neutrals and crisp whites combined with vibrant pops of color immediately transport you to the coast. Adding splashes of aqua to the room with accent pillows, rugs, or a throw evoke colors of the sparkling sea, while a hint of coral mimics sunset hues.Sea-inspired decor: Coastal and nautical touches strategically placed provide the finishing touches for your decor scheme. Nautical and coastal decor displayed throughout the home will bring the theme together. From seashells and coral, to coastal artwork, or a worn piece of driftwood, a little goes a long way. A collection of sand dollars, seashells, and starfish that you collected on your most recent vacation can be easily and artfully arranged in a simple glass vase or bowl and provide a personalized piece for your home. Just keep in mind that you don’t have to go overboard on the decor. A few curated, meaningful items will bring the look without the kitsch. Light-colored walls:   Whitewashed shiplap evokes the feel of beach front cottage life, but they aren’t for everyone. Painting your walls in bright, light colors will provide the perfect backdrop for your coastal decor canvas.  Matte paint, while not as reflective as semi-gloss or glossy paint, is also a great option for helping to reflect light and give the appearance of more natural light in a room.Furniture: To bring the beach-inspired look to your furniture,mix various styles such as rustic, cottage, and contemporary as well as materials like rattan, polyester and cotton.
