Employee Spotlight: Hayden LoAlbo, Marketing Coordinator

Bishard Homes didn’t become one of the most recognizable names in the Chesapeake and Virginia Beach new-construction markets without the help of dedicated, passionate employees. The drive to connect buyers to the perfect home and community for them, paired with her willingness to jump at every opportunity, has led marketing coordinator Hayden LoAlbo down a unique path at work and into one of our homes. Learn more about her role and what she thinks sets Bishard Homes apart from other builders below. 

Q: How long have you worked at Bishard Homes? Prior to starting here, did you have other experience in the homebuilding industry?  

Hayden: I’ve been with Bishard Homes for nearly four years now, and I didn’t have any experience in the homebuilding industry prior. It’s actually pretty funny—I came to the team as an 18-year-old kid who’d been making coffee at Starbucks in between classes at community college. I was hired as an assistant to the Director of Marketing, did that for about 6 months, and have worked in my current role ever since!

Q: What does your typical day on the job look like? Is there such thing as a “typical” day? 

Hayden: I’m convinced that when you work for a small business, there truly are no “typical” days—everyone wears tons of hats! However, on any given day you can probably find me combing through our analytics, creating digital or print marketing materials, making color and material selections for our homes, or meeting with homebuyers to design their dream homes.

Q: What is your favorite part of the job? 

Hayden: I’d have to say meeting and working with our homeowners is my favorite part. Taking our floor plans and customizing them to the needs of each unique family situation is such a gift. It’s also just fun to watch our buyers’ faces light up as we work together to select the materials that will make up their home! We get to sit around a table and design the home they’ll make memories in together—it's such an honor to be a part of the process with them.

Q: How do you think Bishard differs from other builders in the area? 

Hayden: We’re different because we understand the community on an intimate level. The company as a whole has the heart to see Virginia Beach and Chesapeake thrive and look beautiful as well. We do a lot of infill or spot builds, where we go into existing communities, tear down old or damaged homes and buildings and replace them with beautiful new homes. It’s really a multi-faceted approach to serving the city—we take unsightly projects and create gorgeous homes to look at instead. The city benefits from the higher property values, the neighbors benefit from increased value on their homes and the new homeowners benefit from owning a regionally-influenced, high-quality home. 

Q: What makes Virginia Beach and Chesapeake such a great place to live? 

Hayden: Virginia Beach and Chesapeake really do have so much to offer! Of course, there’s the beach and the other gorgeous waterways, such as the Chesapeake Bay. But there’s always something to do in and around town—from the ViBe Creative District and the state parks, to tons of outdoor activities and all the shopping and restaurants of Town Center. We’ve got farmlands, beaches, suburbs and city living all in one area, so there’s truly something for everyone.

Q: Many Bishard employees live in the homes and communities you build. What do you think that says about the company as a whole? 

Hayden: So many of us live in Bishard Homes, and I think that speaks to how much we believe in and stand behind the quality of our homes. We desire to build homes for families that we trust enough to live in ourselves! Considering your home is probably the largest purchase of your life, it speaks volumes that so many of us are willing to put our money where our mouth is and live in the product we sell.

Q: What upcoming projects are you most excited about? 

Hayden: I have to say, I’m very excited for the Reserve at Grassfield! This project was one of the first I ever got involved in when I started working here nearly four years ago, so it’s exciting to watch what we’ve seen on paper for several years finally coming to life on the job site. I’ve also loved hearing how excited all of our future homeowners are to live in the community! It truly makes all of the hard work worth it, knowing the houses we build will soon become homes to many families.
